Betty Jane Staley, 94 of Toledo, OH, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at the Elizabeth Scott Community surrounded by her loving family.  Born July 27, 1919 in Fostoria, OH, she was the daughter of Parl and Artena (Gill) Payne.  She married William Phillip Staley on Oct. 16, 1939 building their own home together during the depression where they resided during their 65 years of marriage, before he died on Nov. 7, 2004. She was a homemaker and sold Avon for 23 years. Betty enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables from their garden. She loved to cook and bake, writing poetry about people she met and loved.  Betty also loved animals, especially the dogs she had through the years, painting pictures, sewing, making her own clothes, fishing with her family and she was especially proud of the songs she wrote and had published, “No Love to Give”.  Betty loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, teaching them many important life lessons.  She and Bill enjoyed several trips, including 3 trips to Alaska in their Airstream Trailers with special friends.

Betty is survived by her son, William (Carol Ann) Staley of Palatka, FL. Granddaughters, Cindy (Doug) Brunt of Toledo, OH and Michele (Jeff) Schultz of Maumee, OH.  6 great grandchildren, Doug, Shannon and Heather Brunt and Chelsea, Aaron and Andrew Schultz. Great, great grandchildren, Braidan and Austin Brunt. Nephew, George (Anne) Staley and beloved friend, Betty Paxton.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Payne and sister, Arlene Poston.

Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will be Sunday, December 15, 2013  at 1:00 pm. Reverend Jerry Craig, officiating.  Interment will follow at Whiteford Union Cemetery.
